My trick to this coupon is to strictly limit myself to right at the $25 purchase mark -- because then it's like taking 40% off whatever you're buying. With me, that almost always means 40% off sale or clearance-priced merchandise.
I will say that the jcp.com website appears to have a ton of great transitional dresses on clearance right now -- so if you are looking for a dress thin enough to wear now, but that can be worn with a jacket and maybe tights and boots into the fall, I would peruse the online clearance section.
